Bush's War On Porn

My fellow Americans (and all those who are not of this country), I bring to you some rather disturbing news. It seems our President, ever the 'compassionate conservative', has recently appointed a new leader in his 'War on Pornography'. As if he didn't fuck up the war in Iraq enough, now the Prez wants to start a civil war on our own soil. Only this time the war won't be between the North and the South. This time it will be between the Moral and the rest of us. You see, the most 'moral' and corrupt men the nation has produced have been sought out and assembled by 'C.C.' Bush to enforce morality as they view it from sea to shining sea.

Nevermind that not one of these men can tell the truth to save their lives, or that they willingly threw out the Geneva Convention when it didn't satisfy their sadistic desires, or that they would sacrifice American lives in order to gain control of oil supplies overseas. Nevermind that they want to build prejudice into the United States Constitution, or that they want the New Testament to supercede the American judicial system. These people are known by our Government as the most moral people on the planet. And now they want to take away your freedoms, your rights, as pertain to viewing pornography in all its many morality-eroding forms.

How many of you remember when Attorney General John Ashcroft took offense to the giant aluminum statues of Justice in the hall of the same name because the female one had a bare breast, and he ordered them covered up by drapes (that our tax dollars paid for). There was something darkly symbolic about the United States Attorney General hiding the statues that represent Justice in our free country. It looks as though we Americans are about to find out just how much justice this administration will bury in order to achieve its goals.

Find the bigger boob in this photoAshcroft himself began the moral crusade against the socially corrosive evils of pin-up pix, but was interrupted by the events of 9-11. So wrapped up has the Justice Department been in whatever it is that they have been doing, that President Bush, leader of the Republiscist party*, has recently appointed one Bruce Taylor as the new hitman in the war on naked pictures. And Taylor, another man with the same kind of moral fiber as the rest of our Republiscist leaders, has already managed to arrest over two dozen evil-doing, morally corrosive pornographers. The Bush administration is pleased to report that they are getting the convictions they want on each of the dirty perverts they have arrested. Remember, Justice is no longer only blind. It is now hidden behind the blue curtain behind the fat ass of our Attorney General. Methinks the old American standard of "innocent until proven guilty" has been sequestered away behind the blue curtain along with Lady Justice.

Now, correct me if I am wrong, but aren't these members of the Moral Gestapo all Christians? And as such, do they not believe that we humans are made in God's image? If that is indeed true, and God is the Chief in Command of morality, why would He fashion us in a form (His form) that He deems obscene? It leaves me to wonder if the Judeo-Christian God has a lack of self-esteem, or maybe a GOP-inspired mean-spirited sense of humor. Nah. I think it's just that American Puritanism has mandated that we cover and do not gaze upon the image of God as expressed through each of our bodies. No, wait... that's Muslim behavior. Thank God the Europeans don't have the immaturity of a seven-year-old as do our Republiscists.

*Allow me to explain what a Republiscist is. A Republiscist (pronounced 're-pub-lish-ist') is a Fascist who believes in God. True Fascism leaves no room for religious belief. So while our current administration busies itself by employing the tenets of fascism, they also believe in and try to employ the so-called word of God as law. Our President believes God wants him to be President, even if it means sacrificing the environment God created for the monetary gain of big corporations and their CEO's. And the God that Bush bows down to apparently believes that naked bodies and sex acts are both obscene and immoral ~ except if you are a man and a woman who are married.

So all this twisted reasoning has led to this new war on porn. And what does this war mean to you and I? Well, it means that the Federal Government can arrest any adult video producer, adult website owner, or adult entertainment publisher they choose for producing and marketing content they deem as obscene. Included in the list of arrestable porno vices is soft-core pornography, the type shown on cable TV or by pay-per-view in hotel rooms. Sex and the City type stuff. They won't arrest you for looking at it (yet), but they will arrest those in the business of making it. That's because, even though you might explicitly desire to view pornography and you have the right to view it, and your demand in turn causes people to produce it, you are, in the eyes of the Republiscists, just another poor, unsuspecting victim of us dirty, heathen pornmakers. In their back-asswards view of how things work, if we aren't making porn, you won't want to view it. Right. And the earth is flat.

This of course flies in the face of findings in a report commissioned in the 1960's by Lyndon B. Johnson. The report was commissioned to determine whether pornography had any negative effects on society. The investigation overran Johnson's time in office and was presented to the Nixon administration. The report stated that there was no conclusive evidence that pornography had any negative or corrosive effect on society. In fact, the report stated that in countries where pornography was legal, sex crimes were relatively low per capita. But since the report didn't support the views of the Nixon team (Rep.), they attached a secondary report made up of personal opinions by right-wing conservatives (the likes of moral superior Charles Keating), and Catholic leaders, and such. These moralists opined that, regardless of the report findings, porn was indeed harmful to society. The new "report" was attached to the old one and then conveniently buried.

And now we face a dismal and stoic future so long as the Republiscists are in power. They are taking our freedoms away one by one. Remember a time when, if you reached the age of majority you were allowed to read and watch adult entertainment? Well, look at the internet. Look at what we all have to do in order to be 'legal' on the net. And look at how children have assumed more rights than us. When I was a child, children had no rights and adults were never required to sacrifice their rights for rugrats who weren't old enough to vote. All that has changed, and this society of ours revolves around children. Schools may not be providing children with an education anymore, especially under Bush's "No Privileged White Child Left Behind" plan, but these uneducated, legally unrepresented urchins are beginning to have more rights than you or I. It's not so much that nudie pix are dirty and Americans need protection from seeing offensive images of God's handiwork... it's that someone feels that unsupervised children should be prevented from having access to such images. And thus, as long as the Republiscists have absolved parents of any direct responsibility for monitoring their offspring, our adult rights have to suffer.

Pornography is a genie that can't be put back in the bottle. Even if the Republiscists succeed in getting porn thrown off of cable and the internet, the bookstore shelves, and out of the arcades, the American people will not develop sexual amnesia, nor forget that human sexuality exists in all its pleasurable forms. Like the war on drugs, Bush's war on porn is a losing battle for the administration. It's a new kind of McCarthyism that relies solely on creating fear and using public humiliation to achieve its goals. It is a war dependent on shaming people for celebrating human sexuality.

When the war on pornography comes to your neighborhood, you are probably safe (as long as you don't work in the industry). The Government isn't currently planning on raiding your homes in search of pornographic contraband. Not yet anyway. But if this so-called war gets any more steam to it, there may come a day when your personal viewing rights will be struck down. That is a day we cannot afford to see arrive.

One thing we cannot lose sight of is the lesson that Germany taught the world in the 1930's. It was both complacency and desperation that led the people of Germany to allow Adolph Hitler and the Nazi Party to seduce the public with rhetoric and gain control of the country. The Nazis promised Germany a glorious, prosperous future. The German public handed its soul to the devil, gave Hitler power, and ended up in ruins. Basic accepted moral behavior fell to the wayside as Germans were forced to comply with the Nazi Party demands, no matter how cruel, unjust, or immoral. Books were burned to prevent people from being reminded that what was happening was wrong. And those who spoke out against the leadership were beaten, jailed, or murdered. One of the world's darkest political periods happened less than a lifetime ago. Have we already forgotten?

Is America headed down the same path? Not the exact same path, but one just as similar. We need to take action this November and make sure that the current administration is relieved of its power and position before these immoral moralists have any more opportunity to re-shape our country and our society to suit their own weaknesses. It is also imperative that we all start making noise about Bush's war on pornography and the freedoms that it will erase. The Republiscists don't want another 'gay marriage' type controversy muddying up their election chances. Now is the time that we all need to make Bush's War On Pornography a major political issue. If we don't and the Republiscists win, we can kiss porn on the internet, in magazines, and on video goodbye.

Get out there and raise holy hell!
