Dear Jack,
I just have one question
and maybe you can answer it.
I have asked my doctor this
question lots of times
and he throws his arms up as well.
If you are HIV Negative,
and fucking and cumming in
someones ass who is positive,
what are your chances
of picking up HIV?
Some docs say Highly likely,
some say its more dangerous
for the bottom, and some say
I don't know. I know of a
couple (the bottom is poz
and the top is neg) and they
have been banging for years
before they even knew the
bottom was poz...
What has been your result?
Do you perfer to fuck someone
who is neg, or does it really
bother you?
Regards,
Al

Dear Al,
Yours is a question I believe
is on the minds of nearly
every barebacker who is currently
HIV-negative. Since HIV
doesn't incubate immediately,
some men who have been exposed
to the virus are unaware they
have it and still think of
themselves as negative. A
general rule of thumb is to
consider everyone you fuck
as positive.
That aside, in determinig risk,
it is certainly more dangerous
for a negative bottom to receive
loads than it would be for a top
to deliver them.
Of course, if both parties are
truly HIV-negative, there is no
need to worry. Let's face it...
none of us would be here if
the medical profession's propaganda
that the act of bareback sex will kill
you were true. In the hysteria
over HIV and AIDS, many people
(including healthcare professionals)
have apparently forgotten that one
person in a sexual encounter
must have the virus in order to
transmit it. And that would
primarily have to be the man on the
top. If the top is POZ and the
bottom NEG, the bottom is assuming
the highest level of risk by letting
the top jizz in his ass. But
if the top is NEG and the bottom
is POZ, it seems as though the
risk is dramatically less.
There are ways that an HIV-negative
top can receive the virus from
a positive bottom, but certain
factors must be present:
The bottom has blood or pozcum
in his ass
The top has open sores,
cuts or abrasions on his dick
Since HIV is transmitted through
the exchange of body fluids, (and
NOT because, as one straight woman
tried telling me, it can walk on its
own and jump into your bed) if you
are fucking your bottom and there is
no blood or previous manjuice in his
ass, your likelihood of getting
infected is minute. If you are a
real ass-rammer, you CAN cause his
rectum to tear, thereby bringing
about blood. If that happens, you
may wish to stop if you know he's
poz. But regular fucking should be
a relatively safe activity.
Bear in mind that pulling out
before blowing your load if you're a
negative top achieves very little
for your safety... HIV won't
swim upstream and get in your
dickhead while you're pumping your
goo into another man's hole. So
as long as you're in there, you
might as well finish the job right!
(Unless he's bleeding...)
Why plow a field
if you ain't planting seeds?
Fisting and major assplay can
also cause a rectum to bleed, so
keep that in mind when trying to
take him to elbow-land. You are at
risk if he bleeds in a fisting
scene and you have any open wounds
on your hands.
You should know that the hysteria
I mentioned before is primarily due
to the medical field's desire to err
on the side of extreme caution. Just
as abstinence will keep a woman from
getting pregnant, doctors have been
drumming home the message that having
a sexless life will prevent the transmission
of STD's including HIV. This is really
a partial myth, as many STD's
like Syphillis, Gonorrhea & warts
can be transmitted without any
exchange of sperm. Herpes, Hepatitis,
Crabs and Scabies can be
transmitted via non-sexual contact
(a kiss, contaminated food, and
general physical contact, respectively).
As such, these STD's are in reality
much easier to acquire than HIV.
As for me... I enjoy fucking POZ
men as well as negative guys. And
POZ guys seem to have fewer
reservations about really getting
into the act than their negative
counterparts. I know what to keep a
watch for while having sex, and
have also come to terms with the
fact that good, hot sex carries
with it the risk of infection from
many different diseases. It's
part of the landscape. And I for
one do not care to sacrifice the
most intimate experience I know in
the name of over-zealous hysteria.
Good luck to you, Al...
~Bareback Jack.
